Distribution of Exports

China maintained stable clothing exports to key Western markets such as the United States and the European Union. In the first three quarters, exports to the U.S. reached $26.82 billion, a 4.7% increase, while exports to the EU were $20.88 billion, up by 1%. Emerging markets, such as Latin America, saw quicker export growth, with exports amounting to $7.18 billion, marking a 6.3% increase. Although there was a decline in exports to ASEAN countries, imports from nations like Thailand and Cambodia increased significantly.

Key Growth Sectors

Knit and woven garments experienced rapid growth in the first three quarters of 2024 across both traditional markets like the U.S. and the EU, and emerging markets like Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The export value for these garments reached $54.35 billion, up by 2.5%, with woven garments at $48.51 billion. The export quantity for these two categories increased by over 11%, with specific items like shirts, underwear, and knitted T-shirts witnessing considerable growth.
